Windows Tip: Recover Product Keys / Serial Nos
Many times we need to re-install the operating system for many reasons, and if you are using windows then there are more chances that you re-install the OS. One common problem one faces during re-installation process is the product keys/serial nos/registration keys for software like MS-Office, Windows, Exchange Server, and SQL Server.We either misplace them or when you buy a PC with pre-installed software they may or may not provide the keys seperately.
There is an easy way to keep track of the keys for the above mentioned softwares. ProductKey is a small utility that displays the ProductID and the CD-Key of MS-Office, Windows, Exchange Server, and SQL Server installed on your computer. You can view this information for your current running operating system, or for another operating system/computer – by using command-line options. This utility can be useful if you lost the product key of your Windows/Office, and you want to reinstall it on your computer.
Download this from NirSoft’s website and unzip it. Run the ProduKey.exe, then it will give you the list of your installed softwares and their product keys which you could save/print for further reference.

USB Monitor
The Mimo Mini USB Monitor does not require any external power other than that supplied by the USB port. It also does not require connection to your graphics adapter. The whole thing is self contained and the only connection necessary is that of a USB connector. It is a seven inch widescreen monitor that can be position in a landscape or portrait orientation and it even offers touch screen support (depending on the model). This gives it a range of useful applications. Sometimes you just want a second monitor to send a movie to while gaming or working. Or you need a second monitor to show some plans or a design that you are working from. This is where the Mimo Mini USB Monitor comes into its own.
This monitor easily packs up for storage and can easily fit next to your laptop in a laptop bag it is a serious contender for a second laptop monitor. It is also useful for people who have very limited space on their desk and will not be able to fit another larger monitor on it. There is a wide variety of uses for the monitor and its usefulness is only limited by your imagination.
SMART PHONES
The Apple iPhone is up to its fourth incarnation and every mobile phone manufacturer has released at least one variant. The reason the innovation most impresses me is because of how useful they are. Many incorporate more features than a regular PDA and are essentially a hand held mobile computing device. Some of the features that are most impressive to me are things such as GPS navigation capabilities, 3D graphic acceleration, the capacity to read electronic books and on screen keyboards. All of these things coupled with 3G connectivity for mobile Internet browsing and operating systems that can run various other applications really make smart phone technology shine.

IBM Launches Eight-core Power7 Processor
IBM launched its latest Power7 processor, which adds more cores and improved multithreading capabilities to boost the performance of servers requiring high up time.The Power7 chip has up to eight cores, with each core able to run four threads, IBM said. A Power7 chip can run 32 tasks simultaneously, which is quadruple the number of cores on the older Power6 chip. The Power7 will also run up to eight times more threads than Power6 cores.
Power7 chips will run between 3.0GHz and 4.14GHz, said Ross Mauri, general manager of IBM's Power Systems unit, during a press event in New York on Monday. The chip will come with four, six or eight cores.The chips are being made using the 45-nm process technology. The company has made memory-level improvements that should enable the processor to execute tasks faster.
Power7 systems will deliver twice the performance of older Power6 systems, but be four times more energy efficient, Mauri said. The systems will run operating systems including AIX and enterprise Linux offered by Red Hat and Suse.
The new chip also has TurboCore technology, which allows customers to crank up the speed of active cores for performance gains. The technology also puts memory and bandwidth from eight cores behind the four active cores to drive up the performance gains per core.
IBM officials called the chip the "world's fastest processor," but emphasized that system performance will be measured by the ability to deliver "intelligent" performance.
Google OS
Google now has its well-funded mitts on just about every aspect of computing. From Web browsers to cell phones. Will Google make the jump to building its own PC operating system next?
Though Google seems to have covered everything, many observers believe that logically it will next attempt to attack one very big part of the software market: the operating system.
The Chrome browser is the first toe Google has dipped into these waters. While a browser is how users interact with most of Google's products, making the underlying operating system somewhat irrelevant, Chrome nevertheless needs an OS to operate.
To make Microsoft irrelevant, though, Google would have to work its way through a minefield of device drivers, and even then the result wouldn't be a good solution for people who have specialized application needs, particularly most business users. But a simple Google OS--perhaps one that's basically a customized Linux distribution--combined with cheap hardware could be something that changes the PC landscape in ways that smaller players who have toyed with open-source OSs so far haven't been quite able to do.

Nokia N8
We’ve come to take Nokia for granted in the low end or the business class but it seems it has lost the knack for killer phones, run out of royal blood. It’s up to the Nseries to fix it all up. The Nokia N8 may just turn out to be the right cure. With that kind of hardware, it’s a smartphone you’d be mad to ignore. For a change we are not talking netbook-grade processing power or loads of RAM. Nokia have instead given their flagship an industry-leading camera and stuff like HDMI port and USB-On-the-Go.The Finnish engineers often like to make a point about Symbian being the most resource-effective OS. We’ve seen it run reasonably fast indeed on even slower CPUs. This time though it’s Symbian ^3, so we’ll have to see it again to believe it.
Key features
* Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support
* Penta-band 3G with 10.2 Mbps HSDPA and 2 Mbps HSUPA support
* Sleek anodized aluminum unibody
* 3.5" 16M-color AMOLED capacitive touchscreen of 640 x 360 pixel resolution

Google One GB Per Second Test Internet Connection - 2011
Internet search giant, Google, last week announced a plan to test an ultra high-speed broadband network at Stanford University in 2011.This connection will provide high speed internet access at about 100 times the current average connection speeds, up to 1 GB (gigabit) per second. Using Fiber-optic technology, the company plans to break ground on the project in early 2011.
Google is a worldwide leader in internet search, with the company also announcing an even faster search method last month, called Google Instant. You should be able to see this new feature every time you begin to type your search query in any Google Search box on the internet. It works by “reading” the text as you type your query, and then providing you with relevant and popular keyword matches from a drop-down box directly below the search-box. It is incredibly fast, displaying the best matches even before you have finished typing the search query.
BMW’s Concept ActiveE – 125kW – Zero Emissions
BMW has always been at the forefront of leading innovative design, functionality and reliability, and now they have gone ahead and did it again.
Introducing the BMW Concept ActiveE.
As you may have guessed, with the emphasis falling squarely on green, efficient vehicles these days, BMW has also stepped up to the challenge and have developed their own ‘green’ vehicle.
The BMW Concept ActiveE is based on the BMW 1 Series Coupe – in terms of looks that is. The drive train however is an entirely different story altogether. Being a zero emissions vehicle, it is an entirely electric vehicle. But not quite an ordinary electric vehicle.
Plenty of power is available in the form of a high performance electric motor that provides 125kW, or 170 hp, and 250 Nm of torque. All this power accelerates the Coupe from 0 – 60km/h in 4.5 seconds, and 0 – 100km/h in 8.5 seconds. A couple of years ago some normally aspirated and even fuel injected vehicles were fortunate if they could boast that type of performance. How technology has changed…
The electric motor is powered by a lithium-ion battery, and with the combustion engine, transmission and fuel tank removed, there is still more than enough space with four seats and 200 litres of boot space. And the car’s range? 160 kilometres on a 3 hour charge. Not bad if you’re planning on using it for city driving. The Concept ActiveE will be available in 2011.

Computers That Are 100 Times Faster - IBM Moves Closer to New Class of Memory
Computers That Are 100 Times Faster, Virtually Unbreakable, And That Could Last For Decades – That’s What We Can Expect In The Next 8 Years According To IBM.
IBM have been working on a new type of technology called “racetrack” technology for years now, to incorporate into modern pc’s of the future. IBM estimates that this type of technology will be available within the next 8 years.
But what is it? What is “racetrack memory”? The technology has been given this name because of it’s ability to “race” information around a built-in wire track, which could ultimately lead to solid state electronic devices that have no moving parts, and yet have far more capacity to store data than today’s devices. Just to give an indication, a handheld device such as an mp3 player would for example be able to hold approximately half a million songs, or 3,500 movies – that would equate to roughly 100 times the storage capacity of a device of similar size in today’s terms. These devices would also use much less power, able to run on a single charge for possibly weeks at a time, and be able to last for decades.
For nearly fifty years, scientists have explored the possibility of storing information in magnetic domain walls, which are the boundaries between magnetic regions or “domains” in magnetic materials. Until now, manipulating domain walls was expensive, complex, and used significant power to generate the fields necessary to do so. In the paper describing their milestone, “Current Controlled Magnetic Domain-Wall Nanowire Shift Register,” Dr. Parkin and his team describe how this long-standing obstacle can be overcome by taking advantage of the interaction of spin polarized current with magnetization in the domain walls; this results in a spin transfer torque on the domain wall, causing it to move. The use of spin momentum transfer considerably simplifies the memory device since the current is passed directly across the domain wall without the need for any additional field generators.
The new technology will dramatically speed up boot times for pc’s and other devices.
This video below illustrates how the technology works.

3 TB Hard drive
In yet another world first, Western Digital, the maker of SATA hard drives, announced a new breed of hard drive that will increase storage capacities of pc’s even further.The 3TB (Terrabyte) drive is the first of its kind in the world, as it’s closest rival has been hard drives with a capacity of about 2.2TB until now. The new 3TB hard drives deliver a massive storage capacity in a single drive. Western Digital is reportedly the front runner in the data storage industry by using 750 GB-per-platter areal density and Advanced Format (AF) technology.This 3 TB hard drives with an Advanced Host Controller Interface (AHCI)-compliant Host Bus Adapter (HBA), which will enable the operating system to use a known driver with correct support for large capacity drives.
Audi A8
Audi A8 Brakes Automatically Upon Sensing Danger In The Road
Advancements in automotive technologies keep evolving at a rate which seems to be more and more biased towards safety and comfort for drivers and passengers alike. The new Audi A8 is definitely in a powerfull class of its own with a couple of new safety features that are so advanced.
One of the features that most impressed me is Audi’s on-board navigation system that delivers real time driving conditions to the onboard computer, and then automatically makes decisions based on the information it receives. For instance, with this system the car automatically ‘reads’ the road ahead via the navigation system, sensing turns in the road ahead and then automatically adjusting the lights to shine into the turn to give the driver more road visibility.
The Audi A8 also has a radar-based ACC stop & go facility, which means you are much less likely to rear end the car in front when moving at a snail’s pace in heavy traffic. The intelligent system will basically keep a safe distance between you and car in front. A while back we reported on Volvo trucks having this stop and go functionality.
Completing the refined interior is an advanced Bang & Olufson sound system, delivering a staggering 1,400 watts of mind blowing sound through 19, yes…19 speakers. At this time these safety systems are confirgured for the model range sold in Germany.

Gaming Keyboard
Steelseries has come out with yet another keyboard for gamers to pick up. Instead of being made for just one game, this one is able to handle interchangeable keysets. This way if you decide to drop WoW and switch to a FPS game it doesn’t require you to pick up a new keyboard. Plus, with the Shift Keyboard it offers several different ways to personalize it to the point that you’ll be able to use it the way you want.
The entire keyboard is fully customizable, all of the keys can be programmed to do something else. The layers are easy to switch out, so it won’t consume too much of your time when you’re dying to just hop on the computer and start gaming. Being a Steelseries keyboard you can count on that it’s a high quality keyboard and that it’s obviously ergonomic.

Sony Unveils the World's Smallest 3D Camera
Although 3D Cameras are nothing new to the general public in this day and age, the two new additions to Sony’s 2010 Cybershot line are offering something new to the technology. These cameras are the first point-and-shoot cameras that offer 3D imaging capabilities that utilise only a single lens.Mainstream 3D cameras (or stereo cameras) utilise two (or sometimes more) lenses to create a stereoscopic or 3D image by capturing two separate images from two (or more) different perspectives. The two images are then overlaid and by using red/blue anaglyph filters, polarization or viewing the images on a specially treated screen, it simulates human binocular vision to give it a three dimensional view.

However, it is worth investing in a USB connector for your devices in order to fully utilize the device. It will also help you reduce the amount of connectors you need to carry around.These solar chargers have the option to pre-charge via a USB or wall socket connection in the event you are unable to get the device into the sun to charge up the connected device. New Tech Solar/Electric Bus
New Tech Solar/Electric Bus Drives ‘Over’ Cars And Other Vehicles
The company, Shenzhen Hashi Future Parking Equipment Co has developed the ‘straddling’ bus concept (3D Fast Bus), able to transport in the region of about 1200 people at a time. But this is no ordinary bus. It runs over, or above, the rest of the traffic, while cars motorbikes and other moving vehicles travel underneath the bus. Sure, it runs at only 40 km/h, but again, it transports around 1200 people at a time. Actually, the concept makes me think more of a massive overhead, moving building, than a bus.The new concept is reportedly also a major leap in saving fuel, saving over 800 tons of fuel each year, reducing the carbon emissions by more than 2000 tons each year. A district in Beijing, called Mentougou, is reportedly already planning route in excess of 180km, with construction beginning at the end of this year.
